✨ Caring for Your Kitten ✨
Tips, safety, and guidance for a happy start together
Bringing home a Shades of Sapphire kitten is an exciting and joyful moment. We want you to feel confident every step of the way. This guide will help you prepare your home, understand what to expect, and give your kitten the best possible start with their new family.
🐾 Preparing Your Home
Set up a safe starter space (a quiet room with litter box, food, water, toys, and a cozy bed).
Provide a scratching post or pad to encourage healthy habits.
🛑 Kitten-Proofing Your Home
Curious kittens explore with paws, teeth, and noses — much like toddlers. Before your new family member comes home, make sure your space is safe:
Plants: Remove or relocate toxic plants (like lilies, poinsettia, philodendron).
Cords & Wires: Cover or tuck away cords — chewing can be dangerous.
Windows & Balconies: Ensure screens are secure and small gaps are blocked.
Small Objects: Pick up rubber bands, hair ties, string, and other items that can be swallowed.
Cleaning Products & Medications: Keep securely stored — never leave them out.
Furniture Hazards: Be extra careful with recliners, lift-up beds, and couches — kittens may crawl inside moving parts. Always check before adjusting furniture.
Appliances: Always check washers and dryers before use — kittens love hiding in warm spaces.
Doors & Doorways: Close off bathrooms, closets, garages, and basements until your kitten is bigger and supervised. Make it a habit to shut doors behind you so your kitten doesn’t slip into unsafe areas.
Daily Awareness: Always know where your kitten is before moving furniture, shutting doors, or starting appliances.
✨ These simple habits will protect your curious kitten and give them a safe place to grow and explore.
🍽️ Feeding
Your kitten will go home eating the same food we use (we’ll provide details and a starter supply).
Transition slowly if you plan to change foods.
Always provide fresh, clean water.
🚽 Litter Training
Your kitten will already be familiar with the litter box.
Keep the box in a quiet, easy-to-reach location.
Clean daily to encourage good litter box habits.
Health & Vet Care
Kittens go home vaccinated, microchipped, and with parasite prevention started.
Your kitten must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup or delivery to validate the health guarantee (this matches your adoption contract).
Follow your veterinarian’s advice for ongoing vaccines, wellness checks, and parasite prevention.
Keep detailed records of each visit for your kitten’s health history.
🛡️ Pet Insurance
Every family receives a complimentary 30-day pet insurance policy. This is one of the best ways to safeguard your kitten and your family from the unexpected.
The policy must be activated within 24 hours before Gotcha Day, on the same day, or within 24 hours after pickup.
Activation is quick and easy — we’ll provide instructions.
After the free 30 days, we strongly encourage continuing coverage for long-term protection.
🎮 Play & Socialization
Daily interactive play builds confidence and prevents boredom. Wand toys and climbing structures are great outlets.
Ragdolls and Cherubim are social cats — they thrive when included in family activities.
Gentle handling, brushing, and routine help your kitten feel secure.
🛡️ Safety Reminders
Indoor-only for safety and health.
Never declaw — scratching posts and nail trims are safe alternatives.
Use carriers for travel — never allow free roaming in a car.
💙 Ongoing Support
