Purrfect Endings

Angela and Kevin Rainey would like to announce the birth of their Ragdoll kitten Baby Gem on March 21st 2025 at the Shades of Sapphire Ragdolls, a TICA registered cattery in rural Ohio. Buttons, the mom, did a good job raising her. Baby Gem definitely got a few of her traits from her dad, Hollywood Elwood. She is an explorer. (I think her and our African Gray Parrot are already planning something). The cat breeders, Tamara and Steve (the cat whisperer), are beyond amazing. They hand raise their kittens, not only feeding them and caring for them but playing with them. We visited their house twice. The last time we were there I watched 3 liters, all separated with their mom, playing, nursing, doing kitty things. If you get into cats, it was paradise. When we picked Baby Gem up to come home with us on June 21st, Tamara explained all kinds of kitten tricks, feeding tips, medical advice, even gave us a bag of food, treats, and a few cat toys. Tamara and Steve hand raise all kittens and you can tell by Baby Gem’s temperament. Books say the kittens will probably hide for the first 3 days. Baby Gem hid for about 6 hours. She has been playing ever since. Her second night here she jumped into our bed and slept in between my wife and I. This morning my wife woke up at 7 with Baby Gem on her chest looking her straight in the eyes. Breakfast is at 7 and Mom was late.

If you’re thinking of getting a Ragdoll, we highly recommend Shades of Sapphire Ragdolls. And if you have been in the city for too long, you will enjoy the drive. It’s beautiful.

Great person to deal with prior to the adoption and after. Very communicative prior and great on sending updated pictures leading up to adoption. Always helpful after answering any question we had after leaving. All around great breeder to deal with if looking for ragdoll.

I bought my beautiful Blue Point boy Finn from Tamara two years ago. Finn is a wonderful cat, he arrived very sociable and well litter trained. He is not only stunning but very smart and lovable. Tam raises her kittens underfoot with lots of love and attention. She also pays a great amount of detail to keeping them healthy . I highly recommend getting your sweet fluff from her.

Tamara does an amazing job raising her kittens! She was very transparent about the entire process from start to finish, answering all of our questions and helping us pick the best fit for our family. Once we had reserved a kitten, she sent weekly updates so we could see how they were growing and understand what vet care they were receiving. Tamara and her husband even sent us home with food and all sort of goodies for the kitten as well, which was so kind!

From the moment we picked her up, our kitten has been confident, cuddly, and so well adjusted. She didn't hide at all, just walked right out of the carrier like she'd lived with us her whole life. She's healthy (our vet confirmed!), easy to handle, and completely at ease with the goings-on of our household. She knows all the things a kitten should - she uses her litterbox perfectly, grooms thoroughly, and her body language with our other cat has been very positive. She's bringing so much joy and laughter to our lives already!
